So, back in March Facebook made some hefty changes to its Community Standards page making it clear what you’re allowed to, and not allowed to, share on Facebook.

However that’s not what I’m focussing on, because no one really cares that much. I’m focussing on one very specific line Facebook used. In my opinion, with the use of Social Media, the female nipple has become ‘less of a bad thing’ with a number of celebrities behind the ‘Free the Nipple campaign’ (Miley Cyrus, I see you) I started to believe we, as a society, were making progress on the nippy front but apparently not.

Facebook published that “We remove photographs of people displaying genitals or focusing in on fully exposed buttocks. We also restrict some images of female breasts if they include the nipple,” – why only Female’s nipples, huh?

I do have respect for Facebook where it’s due though as they also stated that women “actively engaged in breastfeeding,” or post-surgery breast photos are ok, as are photographs of paintings and sculptures that depict nude figures – so that’s cool of them, I guess.
